Did you know that the first crop of hemp in America came from Virginia? It was used in the early colonies to make rope, sails and clothing. As everyone knows, the historical mecca for tobacco in the USA is the southeast. From its earliest days, right alongside hemp, the colonists raised tobacco in great volume and with great success. As time moved on and hemp was eventually removed from the national landscape, the tobacco industry stepped up and built a great, efficient underpinning for the entire process of cultivation, harvesting, drying, processing and logistics.
Through that infrastructure, they produced a worldwide supply of premium tobacco - as they are still doing - however, with the tides of tobacco ever-ebbing and flowing in our modern world, that same underpinning is ready and primed to take advantage of the growing hemp opportunities that await as hemp has reentered and taken back its rightful place as a useful, valuable commodity in America and beyond.
